A heart-filled home

How do we create heart-filled homes? What does that mean, and what can we do? Focused mainly on family life these days, this is a question I am continually returning to, and as I contemplate the question and act on my reflections, I find I hit the mark sometimes, but miss it at other times. While that's life, I'd like to hit the mark a bit more. What can I do?

Simplicity

I've been cheering myself on with this mantra for years now: less things, more time. Things can weigh you down because things take time, need care, and take up space. So the goal is to live with as few things as possible.

Special times

The special times empower the beautiful memories and closeness that bring life joy and meaning. It's a lot of fun to plan for and enjoy special times, and even with pandemic limitations, there's been the opportunity to create and enjoy special times.

Presence

Rather than over zealous bossyness, a happy home is one where people are present for one another. You're there when someone needs you, and you also demonstrate respect and give people space when they're focused on endeavors that don't include you.

Healthy routines and activities

Focusing on healthy routines that bring you and your loved ones together in positive ways truly creates a happy home.

More acceptance, less judgement

People in your families will make a variety of life choices, to accept those choices with interest and support rather than judgement brings people together rather than tear them apart.

Generosity

Generosity of time, energy, and activity uplifts family times and a loving home.

This year's focus will be a heart-filled home, it's a focus I look forward to learning more about and forwarding with good energy. Onward.
