My college-junior son, came into my bedroom to tell me about a new idea that he and his sports team is forwarding to build a stronger, more connected team. It was a good idea that will enrich the team in many positive ways. Throughout the pandemic my son has been building anew to make the time rich and rewarding rather than oppressive and boring. At the start of the pandemic, he and a friend began a leadership podcast, then there were the physical-distancing social events, building connections amongst athletes at his college, and now efforts to build and be a team despite the pandemic limitations.
To survive, we've all had to build anew time and again. We've had to make time to think differently in order to make our time worthwhile, meaningful, and positive. I bet we can all think of traditions we've remade, work patterns revised, and daily living changes we've created to do the best we can during a tough time.
Our search to create anew is a silver lining of the pandemic--we've broken through our familiar patterns in many positive ways, and once the pandemic is past, we'll likely hang on to a lot of these revisions. Onward.
