What is evil?
To me, evil is when people knowingly act without concern for the welfare of others.
Donald Trump, his adult family members, and his cronies, in my opinion, are evil--they are evil because they work to serve themselves at the expense of the American people--we see evidence of this all the time.
What does we do in the face of evil? How do we deal with evil?
Evil gets worse and worse when we feed it or passively let it grow. Donald Trump's tenure is an example of this in countless ways.
He hired his friends and cronies for critical positions--they had little experience and less commitment. After four years, they have little to nothing to show for their work. In fact, the Trump administration was mainly a revolving door of short-term public servants who quickly came and quickly left--a waste of our country's time and money.
He focused solely on his own gain, while problems in the United States grew. He never took his responsibilities seriously with the most grievous example of this is the pandemic. He ignored pandemic warnings early on and disbanded the pandemic health team. Later, when he learned about the COVID-19 pandemic, he lied to the people, ignored scientists, decried medical professionals, put inexperienced family members and cronies in charge of the effort, and spread propaganda and lies about the virus rather than work to get the people the supplies and information they needed to stay safe. Many, many people have died, become sick, lost their jobs, and suffer under the great pandemic limitations and effects.
Scientists endured under Trump's ignorant and irresponsible response, and they were able to quickly create a vaccine. But even with the vaccine available, Trump's team has stymied the distribution of those vaccines.
If you follow Trump, you notice that he spends most of his time propping up his personal power, wealth, pleasure, and privilege. His a user and abuser who works with his team of equally or more evil family members and cronies to spread propaganda and lies to rile up the fringe so they will do his dirty work. The recent insurrection at The Capitol is a prime example of this. Donald Trump and his evil team spread conspiracy theories about the election via social media channels for weeks. They planned a January 6th protest in Washington, D.C. on the day that the electoral win for Joe Biden's Presidency was planned to be confirmed in the Congress. Trump followers, many who belong to White supremacists and violent fringe groups, flew to DC to support Trump, a man that they deemed their hero. President Trump, Trump Jr., Giuliani, and others spoke and riled up the group with their words, and urged them to storm The Capitol. Trump, himself, said that he would join them, but instead, once Trump and his family and cronies sent the mob off to vandalize, threaten, harm, and even kill people, and quickly escapd to the safety of The White House. Unconfirmed videos on social media suggest that the Trumps had a insurrection viewing party complete with music, dancing, laughter, and cheer. This clearly was what they planned on--they successfully riled up a violent crowd, put them and so many others in danger, and then patted themselves on the back for an insurrection well done.
Two days after the insurrection, Trump gave a speech on social media decrying the behavior of the mob, his fans-the same people he riled up and told to storm the Capitol. He said they should be arrested--as evil individuals like Trump do, he now works against the same people he incited to do his evil bidding. Those people will pay the price with fines, jail time, lost jobs, and in some cases, lost lives, injury, and illness. This is how evil Donald Trump acts time and again, he takes advantages of others to take care of himself, and as he does this he shows no remorse, care, or will to help or serve others--it's all about him. His cronies and adult family members are the same--they will do anything to take care of themselves--they step on others, harm others, and stand in the way of good living for so many people day after day after day.
This evil really bothers me. I know enough to understand that evil unchecked early on gets worse and worse. Nazi Germany is a perfect example--so many innocent, good people were brutally murdered and killed by Hitler and his heinous cronies--they didn't care, and still today, there are bigoted, hateful, evil Hitler-type individuals all over the Globe. Donald Trump, his adult children, and his cronies are similar to Hitler--they do what they can for themselves and their ignorant, self-serving, hateful agenda, with no regard for who they step on, hurt, harm, and kill alont the way--it's all about them.
What is discouraging is that this evil Trump team is robbing us of time, money, lives, livelihoods, and potential day after day--this is a giant wall that harms the promise this country holds to promote good living for all. The Trump team have used their power to lure in the vulnerable, greedy, bigoted, ignorant folk who are easily fooled and impressed with wealth, power, conspiracies, propaganda, lies, and pleasure. He plays to our base instincts with his theatrical performances online and in realtime and he has attraced a huge following and prompted greater evil across the country.
What can we do about this evil?
First, we must team with others who know the laws, understand our government, and will good living for all--we must work with these teams to rid our country of this evil in peaceful, postive, legal ways. To do this, we have to work to end the despair and ignorance that gave the Trump team a ready crowd of followers to support his evil intent.
Next, we must hold President Trump, his adult children, and cronies accountable for their evil acts--Trump is slippery, he skirts the law and uses it to his advantage time and again. He knows how to cheat and fool others, and he uses that skill to promote his evil continuously. We must be alert, and work to bring this evil team down--our country should not have to be raped by such a corrupt, self-serving, lawless mob.
And, we have to make laws that work against the spread of harmful propaganda and lies--it is a public health crisis as we clearly saw at The Capitol domestic terrorist insurrection.
A world with as little evil as possible is a world where people are able to be happy and healthy--that's the kind of world I want to support. Today I will think about how I can work for this world with greater intelligence, commitment, and good work. I encourage everyone to do this--we clearly are at a point in the United States where there is much work to do to achieve this aim.
