In many ways, the pandemic year has found us waiting in lines--waiting in lines to get into the local grocery store or deli, waiting in lines to get a COVID-19 test, and waiting in virtual lines to get the vaccine. Many of us are not accustom to waiting in lines. Fortunately many of us live in places where what we need is accessible to us most of the time without long lines. I recognize that is a privilege.
Hopefully we can use this "waiting in line" experience as one that builds empathy for those who have to wait in line all the time to get what they need, and hopefully we can work for systems that mostly rid our society of basic needs lines of any kind, making the needs people have far more accessible. That would spell better living.
