Error when emerging from the pandemic state

I've found myself a bit rusty at routines that were a mainstay of my life prior to the pandemic.

For example, I prepared for the first larger family gathering since the pandemic started this Easter. We still kept the gathering relatively small outdoors mostly wearing masks, but I did include some of the old time practices of making food for a crowd. I was a bit out of practice, so I made a few small errors with the preparation--simple errors with regard to timing, the organization of the food, and the variety needed for a crowd of so many ages.

And, I finally went to the mall and a number of stores to buy a few new clothing items. I was actually nervous about being with the crowds of shoppers. And, I didn't know the dressing rooms were closed so you couldn't try on clothes. I ended up buying a few items that didn't fit or look very good so I returned them. I also forgot to check my receipt upon leaving the store and noticed a minor error in what seems to be the store's favor later on. I had forgotten the typical routine of shopping for clothes and other items.

I have to review those needed social graces too for social gatherings since it has been a long time since I've been meeting people in person again. I'm so happy that we can do this again in increasing ways thanks to the vaccinations, but I will admit I'm a bit rusty.

I know I'm not alone with this feeling as I've spoken to quite a few who have made minor errors and missteps as they emerge from the pandemic lifeways and mindsets. It's time to reacquaint ourselves with the greater world, more interactions, and the new post-pandemic normal. Onward.
