I'll be celebrating a large number of celebrations with loved ones in the months ahead. Today I have time to begin the preparations, and I'm thinking about the question, What makes a celebration special?
Attention
For the most part, a celebration for you is special if the attention is directed toward you. That attention includes the time to listen to the celebrant, engage in activities they enjoy, and a place that they like to be.
Place
For everyone, that special place is somewhere different. I love to think about the places that my loved ones like best, and then plan a special event there. Last year, we celebrated a special birthday in a place that had both beauty and significance for a loved one. it was perfect. So with the many celebrations ahead, I'll be thinking about the kinds of places that excite and interest my loved ones.
Food
Including special favorite foods help to make celebrations special. Just like place, everyone has different tastes when it comes to their favorite foods. With a little research and prep, you can find foods that your loved ones enjoy and that helps to make the celebrations special.
Activity
Engaging in activities your loved one enjoys makes celebrations memorable and special. Sometimes these activities may include a weekend of fun and sometimes it will be as simple as picnic or family dinner.
Gifts
I like gifts to include a homemade aspect--something that speaks of your relationship to that person. I also like to get something that a person will enjoy. More often than not though, I give money for gifts so people can buy or do something that they really want to own or experience.
Photos
Too often I forget to take photos at special events, and I want to do that more because to have a nice photo of the event helps to keep that event alive for days to come. Photos also help you to share the event with those who may not have been able to be there.
Anticipation
Planning a special event ahead of time gives people time to happily prepare for and enjoy special events.
So today I'll spend a lot of time planning and preparing for the many special celebrations ahead. This is work I truly enjoy. Onward.
