What should I wear?

I don't know about you, but the pandemic has had an effect on my clothes closet. After a year of wearing mostly comfy clothes, I don't know where to start when it comes to getting dressed for public events anymore. And why is this a big deal anyways.

Truth is that people do react to what you wear. If you look dowdy, dirty, or unkempt, it is likely that you won't be treated as well. I've seen this happen to myself and others time and again. Now you can say, this doesn't matter to you, but in general, it's a lot easier to look decent and be treated well than to have to fight the tide of discomfort and struggle with regard to how you are treated when you look terrible.

Further, the way you look often matters to the people you love too. I got used to dressing up for visits to Mom's because it brought her joy to see me that way and it saved me from the comments she would often make if my appearance did not meet her approval. It was easier, in the long run, to simply wear what made her happy.

What about your own happiness and comfort?

I do think it's possible to look good and be comfortable too, but that takes some thought. Some of us are very fussy when it comes to the materials, colors, and styles of clothing we wear. Some like to wear clothing that draws attention to them and others like clothing that makes them blend into the crowd. For the most part, I like to blend in.

So after a year mostly at home, I imagine I'm not the only one asking the question, What will I wear? And also like many, it's time to review the clothes I have to choose what I'll keep and what I'll no longer wear. This new normal post-pandemic era will include a review of the clothes we wear as well. Any suggestions?
