Lonesome

Our collective culture, in many ways, have left some people out, and by leaving people out, we've created loneliness.

What if society made it a mission to create communities that work against unnecessary loneliness.

I thought about this yesterday as I witnessed a lonely older friend. This is a good person living their best life for himself and others, yet there is clearly a level of loneliness in his soul. While some loneliness is unavoidable as we move through various stages in life, other loneliness can be cured by better social infrastructure, stronger communities, and good service to one another.

And as I think of loneliness, I wonder how often loneliness is the reason for other struggles and even violence perhaps.

As we move forward in culture with the recognition that there is evidence that there will be fewer jobs--let's look at ways that we can recreate or revise our communities so that we have less loneliness and greater camaraderie and care for one another. We can do this?
