Showing off the wonderful ornaments Megan so thoughtfully gave to each of us. |
We exchanged gifts--mostly clothes and a few other special items including a wok, a toaster oven, and an airline ticket. Today began with quiche, coffee, good breads, and bacon. Later we'll host my family with a dinner of ham, squash, scalloped potatoes, beans, bread, relish, pickles, and salad. Later we'll have cookies and ice cream sundaes for dessert. The festivities include giving gifts to the children and a Yankee swap with the the adults as well as lots of
conversation and if we can stay awake a rousing game of Scrabble. One year we included dancing and singing too which I love, but I'm not sure we'll have time or energy for that.

A too quick family picture before our Christmas Eve dinner. |
I'm mostly looking forward to all the cousins spending time together.
It's a good Christmas, one where all of my family is able to come. I know that won't happen every year since all of our children are getting older, so I want to enjoy this. I hope to take some pictures too.
I write this story as I want to remember the good times as we all move forward in our lives. We're fortunate to have family and friends to celebrate the holidays with.
