The Long View

What's on your long view as you look way out into the horizon?  How does that long view help you to plan your days and hours?

On my long view, I see the following:

Grandparenting
I imagine that I'll be a grandparent someday, and as a grandparent, I hope to support my children and grandchildren with a welcoming home, good times, and support.

Welcoming Home
I keep thinking about what that means, and my latest version includes home-grown/homemade foods, simple, comfortable spaces, little clutter, and lots of light. I want to improve the indoor-outdoor flow too and I'm thinking about ways to do that.

Professional Excellence
Since my work is my passion and my craft, I will continue to learn and improve what I can do. Similar to my home, I want my teaching/learning space to be inviting, comfortable, and welcoming. I want to teach in ways that empower students' ability to learn as well as their strength with Fullan's six C's: communication, critical thinking skills, collaboration, contribution (citizenship), creativity, and character. This will take continued attention to worthy, collaborative, interdisciplinary learning design, implementation, and response.

Family and Friends
I want to be able to to give as much as I can to and enjoy the company with my family and friends.

Adventure and Travel
As time and money permit, I would like to engage in travel and adventure too.

Advocacy
Also as time and money permit, I want to contribute to causes that make a positive difference in people's experience of life.

Healthy, Happy Schedule
I like to keep it as simple as possible as that leads to greater health and happiness for me and those around me.

Riding the Waves of Life
I want to continue to work at navigating life's waves with positivity, dignity, care for others, honesty, and faith that life will continue to include good times and not so good times.

Today's rain provided a good opportunity to take the long view, a view that will give me sustenance during the daily efforts and endeavor.
