A Season of Joy

No matter what your religion is, I can't imagine that you don't welcome the season of joy that Christmas is. Amidst the darkness and cold that prevails in so many places north of the equator, to see bright, colorful lights and participate in parties are welcome in winter, a dark, cold season.

Also if you've studied the teachings of Jesus Christ, you know that those teachings are directed at what is loving and good for humanity. Christ's teaching calls us to be good to one another and to care for those less fortunate than us. His teachings bring forth the best of who we are and can be as humans.

So with the season of joy upon us, it is time to think deeply about how I can create and support that joy in my own life.

At school, we planned a number of special learning events this week. That's a good way to create joy and celebrate the last week of the school year 2017.

At home, the house is brightened by holiday decorations, and soon we'll welcome family members to a special meal and holiday celebration. We'll spend time with other family members at special events as well.

It's a good week to quiet all the other matters of life, matters of analysis, development, problem solving, and learning, and instead appreciate the good people in your life--the people you live and learn with every day, and the people that make life meaningful.

So in that end, I'll focus my attention on appreciation and festivity in the next two weeks--weeks that will brighten the darkness and cold that surrounds us this winter.
