Satisfaction?

I was thinking about satisfaction this morning, and what brings that to me. I was also thinking that when I work and live in ways that are satisfying, I am at greater peace and find more happiness.  With this in mind, what makes you satisfied? How do you weave satisfaction into your goals and activities? We are all different in this regard, and it's likely that our answers and follow-up activities will be quite diverse. As I think about this, I have the following personal answers.

Job Satisfaction
At this point in my career, I'm moving in rather out. I'm moving into the day-to-day events that make a classroom a dynamic place to learn. I'm sure I'll move out from time to time to fuel this inward direction, but for the most part I want to spend my energy now focused on my students and colleagues with the question, "What can I do to empower what we do together?" For starters that means writing grant proposals, planning math lessons, responding to families, students, and colleagues, building the science program, collaborating around our efforts related to reading and writing, and looking deeply at issues and resulting action related to greater distributive leadership, teacher voice and choice, and union efforts in that regard.

Home and Family
Like most moms, I'm deeply committed to my family, and there's so much more I can do to support my children's good lives and the lives of my parents, siblings, and many other relatives and friends. Like teaching well, caring for and working with those you love in a positive way is a limitless proposition.

Exploration and Adventure
For fun, I mainly like to explore and share adventures with those I love. As time and money permits, I'll find a way to do this whether it be a simple adventure close to home or a more complex adventure to places away from home.

To be satisfied mainly includes these three categories for me at this point in my life. What are your essential categories? What brings you the most satisfaction? How does this right the road you travel?
