Like everyone, I look forward to a good time.
What defines a good time changes from year to year. A good time twenty years ago is both the same and different than a good time now.
What's the same is that a good time involves spending time with people you love, and for me it's also spending time in places that have a great ambiance and sense of warmth and beauty.
When dollars are limited, you have to think twice as hard about how to plan for those good times, and what to do. There's countless ways to enjoy good times with limited dollars.

I came up with the following list:
- Birthday dinners: My family truly enjoys celebrating birthdays over a good dinner out or at home.
- Impromptu, spontaneous getaways. Due to our family's complex schedule, our getaways need to be more spontaneous in the days ahead.
- Local nature preserves, museums, and historic sites: We'll likely meet up at local gathering places in the days ahead.
- Holiday celebrations and dinners at home. We'll host friends and family members at home.
Yes there's part of me that would love to hop on a plane and have an extraordinary vacation, but right now the fun will be more local and low key and that's okay.
