My son and friends took a multi-day beach hike recently-- certainly evidence of living well. |
What does it mean to live well?
We know that question can be answered in many different ways depending on who you are, your age, where you live, circumstances, and what you want out of life.
Yet, it's a question we should all ask from time to time to right our direction and make good choices.
As I think of this today, I realize that I'm a person who likes to think about life, choices, and direction. Right or not, I continue to believe that the world holds the potential for all to live a good life--I don't believe that only some are able to reach that goal.
Of course, living a good life demands thought, sacrifice, goal setting, and purposeful effort.
In my own sphere, the good life includes a warm welcoming home, family and friends, purposeful and enjoyable work and activity, celebration, natural beauty, and continued learning.
In the days, months, and years ahead, I'm going to think more deeply about the good life and how I can support that for myself, my family, friends, and others in the community, state, country, and the world. If we're all committed to this, we'll find that we elevate our own lives and the lives of others.
