Mom Time

Today I'll spend the day with my mom. We'll do what she wants and enjoy stories from times past and times to come. She has a great spirit and energy, and typically chooses to focus on the positive.

Mom has been a great teacher for life. Her wisdom has directed me to "enjoy the stage you're in," "get out and help others," and have some fun too.

Mom has always been independent. She never let anyone else run her show, and that's been a good lesson too. That self-direction and leadership are what have helped her live such a long and happy life--she knows what she wants and works to achieve that with the time and energy she has.

It's nice to have the chance to simply be there to support mom today and help her with what matters most. We'll probably have a nice lunch, shop a bit, and then, perhaps, do a few things around the house.

Spending time with those we love is essential to the good life, and spending time with our parents help us to become better parents and know how to age well too. Our parents in so many ways are the best teachers we have.
