Limitations frame our thinking and actions.
Limitations of money, time, energy, physicality, space, and more prompt our response. We feel safe and comfortable within some bounds, while other limitations inspire us to work for change.
I am thinking about this today as I make some decisions related to limitations--decisions about money, time, and energy--where will I invest what I have to live a life that is meaningful and worthwhile?
Family
As always at the center of my priorities is family. I have always respected and valued family, and I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a loving and caring family group all my life. So as I think about the investment of time, energy, and money, I am thinking about how I can help my family, and considering questions related to what they need and what I can do for them.
Profession
I was fortunate to choose a profession that I am invested in, a profession that rarely challenges my ethics and a profession that I believe elevates life for many. As a teacher, I invest considerable time and effort into bettering what I can do with and for my students. I will continue to invest considerable time into this endeavor in the days ahead.
Passion, Inspiration, and Joy
I want a life full of passion, inspiration, and joy. I love the potential that the world holds for this and seek it out as often as I can. I like to think about what brings me the greatest happiness, and then work to make that a reality. Happiness for me includes the following:

- a welcoming home
- beautiful natural settings
- great music
- healthy, delicious, natural foods
- adventures and travel
- writing, reading, research, and creating
- giving to others in ways that I can and ways that make a positive difference in their lives
- reflection about life, the way we live, and what we can do to better our circumstances as a people
- healthy activity such as walking, hiking, biking, boating
So today as I consider the limitations of life, I'll also consider the paths I want to take in the days ahead, paths that include the categories above. Onward.
