When Customer Service Fails

I had the day off today and it was a stressful day--it was a stressful day because I could not get ahold of three company representatives that I needed to speak to about a bogus bill, a quote I've been waiting for, and a financial matter that I've been waiting to close for far too long.

Why do I have to wait to do business? What don't people answer their phones? Why is customer service so poor in all three of these industries?

Recently I had a very different experience in another company--an experience where the phone was readily answered, the business quickly done, and my time and need respected and responded to.

The CEOs of the companies that have been slow to respond, companies that essentially took up an entire day of my time with no result make a combined 5.4 million dollars. That's a lot of money. Their daily pay is almost 5,000 which is a lot more than I make each day.

I'm wondering if those CEOs should contribute a bit of their salary and time towards customer service, in the meantime, I'll steer my business, time, and money away from organizations that make customer service so time consuming and unhelpful.
