For the past few months I've been thinking about how to best respond to family changes--what are the new traditions we should create and what are the past traditions we should maintain. Life in these parts is changing at a quick clip given the ages of my loved ones.
It seems that much of the quandary has been resolved with the acknowledgement that this has to be a time of less planning and more spontaneity given my family's place at this time. Simple living so that we have the resources to seize the moment when it matters appears to be the best mantra for my extended family at this time. With that in mind, I'll get busy seizing the moment for an impromptu birthday celebration in the days ahead.
