Holidays are the stopping points in life, the moments of reflection as we move from season to season. Tomorrow is Easter 2019. I expect it to be a joyful holiday since so many family members are making the time to gather together at my sister's house. It's a bittersweet time too since we're missing one sibling--my brother Paul died just a little more than a year ago. He's definitely left a hole in the family fabric--we miss his energy and the love he especially brought to his children, grandchildren, and our parents.
What will this Easter bring?
What will this Easter bring?
- Good food contributed by all.
- A shared walk on the beach--a treasured family tradition.
- Lots of storytelling.
- Singing Happy Birthday to those who celebrate birthdays at that time.
- Memories of Easter past and present.
It's a treat to be a guest this Easter rather than hosting the event. Although I love hosting holidays, it's great to have a chance to be invited too. Typically, in large families like ours, everyone takes their turn.
Easter also brings with us the religious celebration--a time to remember the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ, a man/God for others especially those who suffer the most and have the least. It is a time to remember the sacrifice of so many, and the fact that good sacrifice results in greater good in the end.
Happy Easter, may you enjoy this time with your loved ones.
