Last night my husband and I had a dinner party. Old friends, people who have lived very interesting lives, came to dinner. I broke the rule of not making anything new, and tried a Spanish theme for the first time with a new paella recipe and flan. Overall I thought it was fairly good, but not as good as after you've made a recipe several times and get it just right. Paella, however, is one of those one dish meals that's special so that was fun!
I've been watching the Australian show, Wonderland. I really like the show's seaside setting and the fact that the apartment-filled group of friends have Food Appreciation (F.A.T.) Nights, essentially dinner parties often. Now that our home is less busy and our time a bit greater, I suspect we'll adopt the practice of hosting dinner parties more. It's a great way to catch up with friends to share a meal and lots of stories.
