Wedding Bells

It's amazing how life does take on a somewhat predictable path of childhood, the teenage years, college/work, marriage, family, and then repeat with your own children, nieces, nephews, and friends. Yes, not all of us travel that path as there are many choices on life's road, choices that may take us down different paths. Today, however, as I think of my son's engagement last night and my own wedding 31 years ago, I am thinking about the predictable path that mirrors many of our life choices. As I grow in years and experience, I find myself more grateful and ready to celebrate the happy moments in life. Those happy moments give us the camaraderie, positivity, and strength to deal with the challenges. The happy moments bring us together and help us to forge positive paths ahead, paths that find us helping one another to do what it is we want to do and need to do.

Thirty-one years ago, my husband and I had a wonderful wedding. We were surrounded by many, many friends and family members. It was a joyful day. Last night on top of a beautiful hill at the Lars Anderson Park in Brookline, MA, my son and future daughter-in-law made the choice to get engaged, plan a wedding, and live a life together. I am so happy for both of them and look forward to supporting their love and life together in any way that I can. I remember how special my wedding was and how wonderful it has been to have a partner in life--I wish them the same joy and happiness in the years ahead.
