Another birthday; time to celebrate

A loved one of mine has embraced a child-like spirit these days. With age, the sometimes sharp edges of adulthood have softened and have been replaced by a spirit of enthusiasm, awe, and excitement. This loved one has always lived a life aimed at doing her very best, and I figure that this peaceful last chapter, to a large degree, is a reward for her good and generous living.

With this in mind, I'm readying for her birthday celebration, a chance to honor her many years, lively spirit, and amazing patience in the face of the challenges that a life of many years can bring. We'll have good food, flowers, and even a few balloons. There will be sweet and colorful gifts, and kind and loving family members.

When we take the time to be aware, we notice who our loved ones are in time and place, and that helps us to celebrate and support them in ways that matter. Tomorrow is a chance to celebrate a loved one--how nice!
