Deep hurt

Recently I was deeply hurt by an event. Unknowingly I stepped into an emotional hornet's nest. I felt the great pain of the sharp reactions deeply. I thought a lot about the situation, apologized for my part, and did my best to move forward. Yet, the hurt was so deeply felt that it was impossible to disguise. That happens.

As I move forward from the situation, I realize that we have to be compassionate with ourselves when we experience deep hurt and sadness. The best we can do is to apologize and own our part of the situation, but if others are unwilling to welcome us into their circles again, then we simply have to take a step back. We can't push ourselves into people's lives.

Fortunately deep hurt doesn't happen that often and at its best, this kind of pain is a good teacher of empathy, compassion, kindness, and care. It is an experience that pushes you into new realms with new understanding--the start of a new chapter in life. Onward.
