Powerless?

Trump times make many of us feel powerless as Trump callously wages what seems like self-serving, ego battles on the world stage. It's like living in a dysfunctional family with a drunk father all the time--you never know what's going to happen. Disorder is the mainstay, and you can never count on him to do what's best for you or what you believe in.

So how does one live with such a feeling of powerlessness--how do you exist in a country where the leader does not represent your values, beliefs, or hopes for a better world? What do you do?

Speak out
I hold Martin Luther King, Jr.'s words above dear, and I won't stay silent while Trump tricks us all with his self-serving, heinous actions that either push laws to their limit or break the law. He is a tyrant who does not lead for what's best for people. He appears to like what he sees as his regal platform, and only seems to serve for a few wealthy, powerful cronies and family members here and abroad. I will continue to support candidates who will bring our country civility, respect, and a good future, not a self-serving man who tears back environmental protections, hires cronies and family members over the best and brightest, and does what he wants to elevate his own fame and gain rather than serve the American people.

Act
I act by supporting better candidates for leadership as I can. I will act by joining in political acts that bring attention to the need for better leadership. I will act by reading and staying informed. I will act by living simply thus making more time and capacity to support better leaders. I will act by working to create more peaceful, promising situations at home, the work place, and in the greater community. I will act by speaking on behalf of all the world's people since most people the world over are not too different than me--they're people who love their families, enjoy good times, and want the best for each other. Most people don't want death and carnage, war and violence, hate and prejudice, pollution and demise--most people want what's best for everyone.

Sacrifice
I will need to think more about what I can give up in order to gain greater energy and action towards a better world. I need to think deeply about how I use time, money, intelligence, and energy in order to maximize what I can do. I will look to mentors around me to guide me in this way.

Donald Trump has been a threat with regard to his callous, self-serving, disrespectful, and dangerous leadership in the United States. He is a fool that is a master at self serving manipulation, backwards vision, and crime. We can do better, United States! We don't have to stay stuck with this old, ignorant fool as our President. We can do better and we must.
