Recently I was in the minority with respect to opinion and action. That experience made me think hard about what I am committed to--what I truly believe in. I listened to those who disagreed with me. I've thought of their points of view since these are people I respect, yet, for now, I'm sticking with my position for reasons I've thought deeply about.
To be in the minority is uncomfortable, yet when you consider your point of view carefully, you can navigate that discomfort with confidence and the knowledge that sometimes the minority do have the right idea--sometimes the minority's stand is simply a seed that will grow with strength in days, months, and years ahead, so it is best to stay your course.
Many years ago, I was in the minority with regard to a professional endeavor. Sadly, I actually gave up on my position only to find that ten years later, the idea I was working on and forwarding is a welcome and established idea now. Had I continued to hone my skill in that area, both my students and I would have profited greatly from that work, but the lack of support early on made me give up on that work, work that would have put my students, school, and me ahead at this point in the road. This event serves as a reminder to me that sometimes the minority opinion or action is the start of a promising direction.
I also stuck to my opinion when voting for Hillary Clinton, though some around me did not agree. I thought deeply about why I preferred her candidacy to President Trump, and as you can imagine, I am so glad I was not swayed as clearly Trump has been a disaster as President of the United States since his decision making, in my opinion, has cost the country good time, money, and potential.
As I think about having the minority perspective or point of view, I think it is important to think deeply about where you stand and why in perspectives like these. It's good to remain open minded and to consider the other points of view. It is also important to look ahead and see your persepctive with regard to what is likely to come in the future.
I am holding on to my point of view that Elizabeth Warren will make the best President of the United States for the following reasons:

I am holding on to my point of view that Elizabeth Warren will make the best President of the United States for the following reasons:
- Elizabeth Warren is healthy, energized, experienced, and intelligent--we need a President with those qualities.
- Elizabeth Warren is collaborative, and ready and willing to work with the best and brightest in our nation.
- Elizabeth Warren will serve the people--her plans clearly are ready to elevate the lives of many, many Americans.
- Elizabeth Warren is inclusive and ready to embrace the diversity of people this country is made up of.
- Elizabeth Warren is bold and respectful--at this juncture in United States history we need a bold, respectful, and proactive leader who is ready to tackle big issues like climate change on day one.
In circles that I belong to, I may hold a minority opinion in this regard, but I'm sticking to that opinion at this time.
Sometimes the minority opinion is the right way to choose. Onward.
