Sometimes it is important to look out ten years in order to look in at your life today.
Where do you want to be in ten years, and how does that vision affect your life today.
A country with opportunity for all
I have loved being an American all my life. I have loved living in a country that's law of the land protects our rights and provides everyone with opportunity. I hate the way the Trump team has corrupted our country's values, vision, and life today. I hate the way Trump and his sinister family members and cronies lead with a short-sighted more-wealth-for-the-wealthy mantra while ripping away the opportunity for all Americans to live with respect, peace, and opportunity in a land that values its natural resources, fair laws, and reach for equity and good living for all. Trump is an irresponsible, lawless leader who leads with manipulative marketing, a self-serving agenda, and use of our tax dollars as his personal slush fund to elevate his and his family members/cronies' gain and fame.
In ten years, I hope our country is back on track with modern day living and opportunity for all. I hope that we will have moved beyond the backwards Trump agenda by elevating environmental protections, lowering the national debt, and providing best possible living for all with top-notch accessible health care, education, safe neighborhoods, renewable energy, strong, healthy communities, and all kinds of positive, promising opportunities for everyone. I hope that we will be once again known as a country who values and forwards human rights beginning with the most downtrodden individuals--individuals unable to live with opportunity, freedom, and needed supports.
Currently I work as a teacher and help to educate children with as much skill and strength as I can. I nurture my family to be strong leaders in their chosen professions and lifestyles. I read and write about issues of importance. I support bright, experienced, promising candidates to lead our government. I try to be an Earth-friendly citizen who respects and forwards human rights. I want to do more, and will look for ways to support the vision I have for our country in the years ahead.
Loving mom and family member
I am learning that this work requires more action and less words. Actions related to a warm, welcoming home, support for family member's needs, desires, and initiatives, and attention to family members' triumphs and milestones. Generosity is important too.
Living simply
At this point in life, I need little. I continue to work towards giving away as much as possible so that I am left with the essentials in order to do my work, have a welcoming home, and live well.
Love more and better
I want to set my sights on loving more and better--I truly believe that love is the most powerful action, and the more we learn to honestly love, the better off we'll be.
Excellence as a classroom teacher
As my classroom teaching career nears an end, my single focus is to do what I can the best I can for the students, their families, my colleagues, and school. I still truly enjoy that work and want each of my students to thrive with regard to gaining a strong academic foundation and wonderful social/emotional skills and capacity. There are always new challenges when it comes to teaching and I hope to continue to strive to do all I can with regard to teaching well.
Art, writing and adventure
When it comes to pleasure, my choice in the next ten years is to continue to involve myself in writing, art, and adventure--three areas of life that bring me great pleasure, insight, beauty, meaning, and camaraderie.
For now, this is my ten-year vision and path. I will continue to listen to and observe the many signs around and within me that inform my life journey always hoping to live each day a bit better than the day before. Onward.
