COVID-19: March 24, 2020

Where are we now with COVID-19?

The positives
  • MA state leadership on many levels is intelligent, forward thinking, and compassionate - this is good.
  • Educators in my school system are dedicated to doing what they can to help students continue their good educations.
  • My college-age son is dealing with this peacefully as he studies online in the comfort of our home.
  • My husband is non-stop working virtually at home too.
  • My parents have a good attitude and are staying away from people.
  • I am learning a lot about virtual teaching, learning, and meeting. I am learning about the tools and how to use them well.
  • Our home is warm and welcoming.
  • We've been able to prepare delicious meals, converse online with friends and family members, take some nice walks, and catch up on some at-home projects.
  • We've enjoyed some wonderful movies and music.
The negatives
  • The President of the United States continues to be oppressive as he puts his power, pocketbook, and popularity above the lives of the American people.
  • The President does not step aside and let the experts lead. By doing this, he makes information confusing, distances the American people from the experts, and works against the unified, intelligent response we need at a time of crisis.
  • Teaching and supporting students online is not nearly as engaging or successful as working with students in school.
  • Not knowing what is ahead is disconcerting for a planner like me.
  • I can't entertain family members, especially my older parents, as I would like.
All in all, I am in a fortunate position at this time so I can't complain. The focus is to continue to do my best with the situation, stay positive, and support others as I can.
