COVID-19: Week Two at Home

A Facebook post from a colleague noted that he "felt small" during this COVID-19 event. I identify with that. The virus is bigger than any one of us. In many ways it has zapped our daily power, independence, and capabilities. Yet, as my almost-90 year old mom said when I complimented her on her positivity this weekend, "What choice do we have?"

So, no matter, what has happen or will happen this week, I'm making a commitment to be positive, because as my mom says, what choice do we have?

My students and family members will be pleased with that positivity--that's good. Also, that positivity will elevate my own ability to do my work well and achieve what I hope to this week.

There's much to be grateful for during these days. First, so many leaders and medical professionals are doing all they can to keep people safe. Courageous essential workers such as grocery store workers are also providing needed supports daily. I am so thankful for those people.

I am at home with family members that I love and I am surrounded by respected neighbors whoa re taking this event seriously--that makes it much easier to do shelter in place with peace. I also have a zillion projects to work on and access to limitless entertainment via films, music, books, and virtual connections, so there's no boredom. Further, I am able to do a great deal of my work virtually too.

I can't complain, and I have to remind myself that positivity matters during times like these. What choice do we have?
