Time for compassion

The landscape related to the coronavirus is changing hourly. I've received a number of calls and emails from colleagues and friends related to these changing times today. In every case, the person was reflecting on or discussing the ever-changing response to this virus. My response has been that we have to be compassionate since this is an unprecedented event. There's no known course of action and frankly, as communities, we are not ready for an event like this.

What can we do?

We have to focus on the basics first. It is important that we're ready to have some food and supplies on hand should we or a family member come down with the illness. We have to look out for family members who may be in jeopardy during these times and as much as possible we have to follow the guidelines of the experts with regard to this situation--this is a situation where "better safe than sorry" should be the attitude you take as you respond to the news and information that abounds.

After the basics and have-to's we can focus on ways to use this time well and increase capacity at home for good living. Some may need to reach out to supports available in the community to make this happen for all kinds of reasons.

This is a brand new event--one that most of us are navigating with our best possible decision making. That's the best we can do. Onward.
