"Virtual School" Continues

As I've noted, last week overall was a positive week of "virtual school." Now colleagues and I are working to make it even better for weeks ahead. I took a close look at students' efforts in the past week and I was not surprised to see them doing a terrific job. We've reached out to the few we haven't heard from or those who haven't demonstrated any effort on the school menu to see what's going on and if there is any way we can help. We realize that every family's situation is different and want to stay sensitive to that.

In the days ahead, I'll do the following:
  • Respond to students' individual work that has been sent to me.
  • Respond to questions/needs
  • Continue to prep for the 4/13 week of more virtual teaching meetings
  • Begin to prep for the 4/27 week of more virtual teaching meetings
What is motivating me most for this virtual school is the opportunity to coach students' math along with depth and attention. This "virtual school" is giving me the opportunity to go deep with a number of math concepts with new tools and processes. I'm sure that I'll use what I learn next year as part of the math program.

The way to survive this most unusual and challenging time is to look for the silver lining--greater depth with the math program is one silver lining for the professional parts of this challenge. Onward.
