We can do better United States; don't let Trump team ruin our country

I've been avoiding Trump's nightly White House briefing which has become part Blame and Shame Show, part Presidential Campaign, part Media Disrespect, part lies and propaganda, a smidgeon of truth and good advice when the scientists and medical experts speak, and testament to the brilliance, courage, and good demeanor of some of the reporters who ask questions.

Time for Trump to step down
The difficult part of these multi-hour "news briefings" is that I get so angry that I completely fall down the Trump hole thinking what can I do to rid our country of this self-serving Trump team that literally puts our lives at risk, pollutes our planet, hob nobs with dictators around the world known for their human rights violations, and spews lies, exaggeration, name calling, bigotry, and misinformation continuously.

Trump team moves America backwards
All my life, I've been proud to be an American, and while our country has had many devastating episodes, I have always felt we were moving toward betterment. But now, with such a corrupt, ignorant, and self-serving team in the White House, it's the first time in my life that I feel our country is moving backwards rather than ahead since we have a President and his team of cronies and family members who, right before our eyes, lie, skirt and/or break the law, slander good people, ignore important intelligence, and work for their own fame and gain rather than for the betterment of the United States.

How have we tolerated this? Why do we allow this to continue? What can we do?

Trump team built an economy on sandy, shoddy foundation
From his very first days in office, Trump spewed lies to prop up his wealth and power. He worked against good living for all Americans by standing silently by when White Supremacists marched in Charlottesville and eventually caused the death of Heather Heyer. He has continuously made subtle and overt bigoted and prejudicial remarks about people from multiple cultures, countries, religions, and lifestyles. He gave the wealthy a tax break while elevating the national debt and widening the wealth gap--that's one reason why during the pandemic, we see staggering long lines at food banks--he wasn't looking out for the rights and needs of all Americans, but just his wealthy cronies thus creating a country of have's and have-not's.

Trump has been spewing hate throughout his Presidency which has served to inflame hate crimes, spread bigotry, and divide our country. He built an economy on a shoddy foundation that made it crumble the minute it was taxed by this deadly coronavirus. Rather than filling positions in government with the best and brightest, he filled the positions mainly with cronies and family members instead thus wasting American's hard earned tax dollars and limiting the potential those positions hold for strengthening our country in so many ways to better living for all. The most glaring case of his ineptitude right now is the fact that he ignored pandemic warnings, disbanded the pandemic health team, inferred that the virus was a hoax and used it to debase Democrats, and did not act with intelligence and commitment to stem the tide of this lethal coronavirus that has caused the United States the loss of approximately 20,000 lives so far and virtually halted life as we know it.

He abuses his power by misusing White House Press Briefings during COVID-19
Now he gets on the television nightly to inform the people about the virus, but instead of informing us, he spews propaganda to cover-up the fact that he didn't act with good time or good intelligence in the face of this pandemic, and he spends considerable time shaming and blaming the media, previous administrations, Democrats, other countries, and anyone he can think of to deflect responsibility and the truth that instead of taking the virus seriously, he spent his time seeking dirt on Biden and his son in corrupt ways, golfing, hosting parties at Mara Lago, and misleading Americans at rallies about this dangerous virus.

Ignorant leadership wastes our good potential
The United States of America is an awesome country of amazing, diverse, and good people. We hold tremendous potential for good living for all. We also are a country rich with wonderful natural resources and extraordinary diversity. There's no reason why we have to stay stuck with an ignorant, self-serving, seemingly corrupt and untruthful President. He wastes our good time. He wastes our hard earned tax dollars. He wastes our amazing potential, and now, sadly, he is wasting so many good lives.

What can we do to rid our country of the nemesis that Trump and his team of self-serving cronies and family members present?

Stand up and speak out against weak, dangerous leadership
First, we must speak out against his lies and irresponsibility. Sure, people make mistakes, but he clearly ignored pandemic warnings and acted for his own self interest instead. And, if this crisis didn't kill many, eventually his inaction related to climate change will spell untimely deaths due to his negligence with regard to our natural resources and need to change our investments and lifestyle for the modern age. Also, his will to kowtow to dangerous dictators and oligarchs around the world puts our values on human rights and human dignity in peril--he sells us out seemingly for his own financial gain. And his lawlessness such as the ways he sought to slander Joe Biden are an insult to our values as a free nation. Similarly the way he supports media propaganda via Fox News, but acts out against the free press strikes at our right to know the truth, question one another, and debate with civility--all endeavors critical to a free society.

Support honest, good leaders and endeavor
We must get politically active and find ways to support good, honest, hard working candidates for offices at local, state, and national levels. Trump is costing all of us lots of money since we have to continually look for ways to support good candidates with our limited time and money while he works with lobbying groups like the NRA and others to elevate their wealth in return for their wealthy support. He basically uses the government as a way to leverage his power, making dangerous and destructive deals to enrich himself and his cronies while neglecting to do the job he was hired to do as outlined in the United States Constitution. No one illustrated this better than Adam Schiff during the impeachment process.

Beware of Trump team marketing and manipulation
Trump is convincing to many because he is a stellar marketeer who knows how to trick people w/simple language repeated again and again and lies, lots of lies, that sadly, people believe mostly because they are probably too busy to do the research and investigate the fact that Trump's talk is rarely a match for his actions--he's not making life better for most people in the United States, but instead simply enriching a small minority of already very wealthy and powerful people.

What truly exemplifies Christianity?
Trump's claim to be a Christian is only to get the Christian vote. If he were truly a Christian, he would not speak with so much hate and act with such insensitivity to poor immigrants, migrants, and citizens. Instead he would act with love, compassion, and generosity to those amongst us that have the least and need the most. His hateful words have resulted in a rise in hate crimes and even a massacre in El Paso when a young man took Trump's ugly words about Mexicans to heart and sprayed bullets at innocent people in a mall killing many. People listen to a President, and even if a President is spewing lies and hate, some will follow that lead. It is the job of the President of the United States to lead with intelligence, hard work, care, compassion, and a strong, smart, informed vision for a good future for all--Trump has not done that, and is clearly incapable of doing that.

Courageous, compassionate leaders matter
Trump can easily take us down because we have not had a leader in the United States as hateful, corrupt, untrustworthy, and frankly, as lazy as him. In the past, even if I disagreed with Presidents of the United States, I never thought of them as individuals who were out to serve themselves alone while mocking and harming the American people. Many of the politics and policies of George Bush I disagreed with, but when 9-11 struck, he was brave and he brought the country together. He didn't shy away from going to Ground Zero in New York--yet Trump is too fearful to visit hospitals to truly see the carnage that the coronavirus is causing. Yes, it's dangerous, but typically, Presidents are courageous.

I yearn for new leadership in the White House. I ache for good, courageous, trustworthy people to unseat Trump and his team of errant individuals--individuals who are comfortable with disastrous manipulation, lies, and the will to serve themselves alone. This is not the America I have known all my life--it is worse than I ever imagined. Trump has never turned it around, instead his leadership, with each day, gets more dangerous and destructive.

We do best for ourselves when we look out for everyone
I implore Americans to recognize that when you only look out for yourselves, and you don't think about our wonderful, diverse country full of amazing potential, you make life worse for everyone. We depend on one another and we have to work together to recalibrate the United States--we have to reimagine this country for the future by taking the plights that face us seriously. We have to rethink immigration and migration policies in humane, respectful, win-win ways. The fact that so many are fleeing their homelands has deep roots in inequity over many centuries. Climate change is real, and the more we resist that, the more we put everyone's life in great jeopardy. Prejudice and bigotry are clearly a sign of ignorance--every educated person knows that our diversity makes us strong, bright, and better able to navigate towards the future with strength. We have to own our past sins as a country--we have to make reparations for the grave problems that still haunt our country today--problems such as slavery, racism, prejudice against women, poverty, and pollution like the Flint, Michigan water crisis. Over time, Americans have made tremendous strides towards better living. Under the Trump administration we have gone backwards and upset many of those good strides. This has to stop--we cannot continue to move backwards into greater hate, bigotry, pollution, crime, debt, and a culture of have's and have-not's as that's not good for anyone.

Cynicism is a road block to good work
We need to get rid of our cynicism. We have to understand that no one is perfect, but many are really good, intelligent, honest people who make a difference. We have to understand that it is all of us together that build a strong country, not one person or team alone. And we have to set our sights on the potential we hold as a people to make better for everyone of us. There's so many problems to tackle and so many people ready to meet that challenge.

Joe Biden is the better choice for President of the United States
It's time America to turn your backs on the heinous, self-serving Trump team who truly don't care about most of us. It's time to begin by electing Joe Biden as President of the United States because he is the better choice, and he will work with honesty and a team of best and brightest Americans to lead us ahead. Trump has shown his true colors as he grandstands nightly trying to prove he is all knowing and all powerful while so many Americans die--he shows little to no compassion for the lives lost, provides no real intelligent plans as to how to respond to this pandemic, and continues to attempt to manipulate people with lies, exaggeration, name-calling, shaming,  and blaming rather than taking responsibility and acting with intelligence and care.

Don't be fooled, United States.

We can do better, United States.

Now is the time.
