COVID-19 Days Ahead

It feels like we're at another turning point with the COVID-19 pandemic. As people seem to be getting somewhat disgruntled with the staty-at-home rulings and the many changes to life as we know it, challenges increase in the community with regard to staying healthy and remaining positive.

How will I react to this?

First, I will continue to heed the advice of experts. I don't want to risk my health or the health of those I love so I will be careful with regard to what I do and how I do it. I've got a good mask to wear when I'm out and about, and I'll continue to choose activities that are mostly close to home--creative activities that contribute to positive living.

Next, I'll continue to seek the silver linings of this event--when do I get to work from home, not commute, and have a reduction with regard to cleaning and organizing tasks at school--that's positive. I also have the chance to work at a deeper level with small groups of students with regard to coaching their learning in math and other subjects. This is good too.

Further, I want to make some permanent changes too. I don't want to be beholding to big business, corporate greed, and heinous political leaders--these people and organizations make our lives miserable. They don't care about the depth and quality of life, but instead spend their days marketing and manipulating to increase their personal power and wealth. I want to support organizations and people who care about strong, vibrant, equitable communities--communities with healthy food, wonderful recreation, peaceful laws and expectations, good schools, and wonderful, accessible hospitals and other positive organizations. I want to relook at the time and places I shop. I want to reexamine the kinds of entertainment I support and I want to look for ways to slow down life so that our communities better support children, families, and the vulnerable. We can do this, and I want to be part of this change.

We all have responsibility to do what is right during these days and the days after this event. We have to live smarter and with greater support for one another. That matters. Onward.
