In the face of irresponsibility

President Trump acted with irresponsibility. He did not take pandemic warnings seriously. He disbanded the pandemic health team, and when he learned of COVID-19, he treated it as a political weapon rather than a serious threat to lives and livelihoods across the United States. President Trump and his team of cronies and family members were irresponsible, and their irresponsibility has wasted our hard earned tax dollars, time, potential, and most sadly, many lives. Amongst those lives lost, the most discouraging are the lives of first responders and medical professionals who did not have the PPEs needed to stay safe.

What do we do when we face irresponsibility by neighbors, friends, family members, and leaders? What can we do?

First, we have to act with responsibility and aline our efforts with the responsible people around us. Fortunately I live in a state with responsible, intelligent leadership which helps all of us to do the right thing. That said, there are still people around me who are acting irresponsibly. I will steer clear of those people and their businesses as much as possible. I will also do what I can to stay safe.

I can also speak up and advocate for smart choices that foster short term safety and sacrifice for long term health and happiness. That's the direction the experts are pointing to and I want to follow expert advice.

Keep a close eye on what's happening around me. I'm not going to rush to be a first person to break the stay-at-home and wear-a-mask rules. I want to be safe.

So, in the face of irresponsibility, act responsibly, avoid the irresponsible people as much as possible, and advocate for intelligent, smart leadership. We can do this.
