Mother's Day Anger

I have to say I am truly angry on this Mother's Day.

Why?

First, I am very angry at Donald Trump and his heinous crew of manipulative, hateful, bigoted, lazy, and self-serving cronies and family members. For three years now, we have heard their manipulative speak, watched their hateful, bigoted rallies, and suffered as they tear apart all that mothers like me value about the United States.

I want a country that works for all Americans and all people around the world. I don't want a President that casts blame and hatred on the most vulnerable time and again--a man more interested in walls that divide than policies and services that bring us together as a strong, united people.

I work with children every day, beautiful, wonderful children filled with awesome potential to create and sustain good living for all. Daily, I watch how children react to this President and his bigoted, hateful speak. He steps on the downtrodden and makes fun of the vulnerable. He is an evil man and all those who support him with their money, words, and actions are just as contempt.

I am also angry because the slothful, irresponsible, self-serving Trump team was busy filling positions with friends and family members rather than the best and brightest. This has made our country weak. Had the Trump team made the time to read intelligence reports, analyze world situations and threats, and work with the best and brightest, this pandemic that is ending lives and causing great pain across the country would not be as bad as it is. Instead Trump ignored warnings, disbanded the pandemic health team, used the virus as a political weapon, and did not act in a timely, organized, intelligent manner. He and his team of hateful, bigoted, ignorant, self-serving cronies exasperated this situation which has cost so many Americans their lives and livelihoods. Rather than take the job seriously Trump gave in to his love of theater, golf, spreading bigotry, and ruining reputations by conducting his campaign hate rallies, golfing at his fancy resort, giving the medal of honor to a racist bigot, and seeking dirt on Biden in corrupt, lawless ways. Trump and his team are criminal.

Further, I am angry because rather than supporting our good country, owning his irresponsibility, and bringing the nation together at this time of great challenge and loss, Trump daily grandstands with one preposterous statement after another with the priority being that his ratings rise. Further, now when we watch television shows, we have to see his campaign ads that are filled with lies and supported by the money of the big industry and foreign powers he kowtows to by supporting policies that favor the elevation of their wealth and the roll back of policies that hinder their companies' rise. If it wasn't the pandemic, it would have been a major climate change event such as lack of clean water, clean soil, clean air, drought, famine, or flooding that created loss of life because Trump has consistently worked against policies that protect the environment to support his big business, self-serving cronies and campaign backers.

Personally, I am grateful that I have three wonderful sons, a loving husband, a caring extended family, good job as a teacher and supportive professional and neighborhood team. I am privileged and I know it, but I can't enjoy the graces of my life while a dictatorial, self-serving, ignorant, bigoted, hateful man and his like-minded family members and cronies take apart a country I love and a country I have always been proud to be apart of. Trump and his heinous team do not represent any of my values as an American, woman, or mother. It breaks me to see families separated at the border and children put in cages. It tears me apart to see the long lines of good people waiting for food to feed their families. It breaks my heart to see a Black man shot and killed while jogging by vigilantes--the types of people Trump has supported time and again with his lack of sensible gun laws, support of the NRA, subtle racist messages, and rallying calls for lawless, gun-toting behaviors.

This is an unhappy Mother's Day because our good country is suffering greatly under the leadership of criminal, hateful, lawless, bigoted team in the White House--this has to change because we cannot live well or live at all with leadership like this.
