A barrier that existed in my midst came down today. I felt great relief.
What toppled that barrier?
It was knowledge and confidence that gently dissected the barrier.
Fear propped that barrier up for a long time. Fear of loud voices, put-downs, ridicule, separation, but knowledge and confidence helped me to know that it was right to take down that barrier no matter what the recourse. The barrier itself was worse than any recourse.
How did I gain the knowledge and confidence to take the barrier down?
I thought a lot about what the problem was that lie at the center of the barrier. I consulted a number of good articles written by experts about the topic, and I sought the counsel of someone familiar with barriers like that--an empathic, honest person.
Then I carefully took the barrier down, opened paths of communication, and started a needed journey towards helping someone with good support.
Barriers arise throughout life. Some barriers have existed since our birth. Sometimes we build barriers ourself. Whatever the case, barriers for the most part, hinder good living and reaching the potential we have, and if possible, it's best to gain the confidence and knowledge needed to deconstruct those barriers so we can move on.
