Many of my family members are taking social distancing seriously. We are following the guidelines set forth by public health officials and doing what we can to stay healthy--so far so good.
So far I have only gone to the grocery store and a doctor's appointment. I've used hand sanitizer at transitions and worn a mask. We've visited by parents too for picnics in the backyard and carefully packaged food so that everyone has their own boxed lunch of some kind. Now we plan to branch out a bit more by hosting my parents at my house with social distancing rules in place including not sharing bathrooms, using hand sanitizer, keeping safe distance apart, carefully prepared food servings so that no one is sharing the same food, and careful cleaning before and after the visit. We won't be crammed in and we'll take precautions and it will be for a short time. None of us have ventured out too much so I think we'll be okay.
I also have to go into to school to pack up. School has set up safe ways for us to clean up and retrieve our supplies so I feel comfortable doing that--I'll wear my mask and follow the guidelines. I also want to take some small trips to beautiful nature spots. We've rented a house at a lake for a week and the family is comfortable with us coming so we're looking forward to that. We'll buy our own food, wipe down the place when we enter, open all the windows and enjoy a beautiful week in a lakeside setting. We'll also venture to beaches and country spots for hikes and picnics on our own and perhaps with a few friends or families while practicing social distancing rules.
Bottom line is that I don't want to get sick and I don't want to make others sicks. I really miss life as it was, but I want to take this seriously and continue to seek the silver linings that exist. Onward.
