Truthfully, I wake up every day focused on the silver linings, but this pandemic is getting worse, not better. Why?
It is simply not going away, and all that we have to do to stay safe, becomes a deeper and more present reality every day.
We planned a socially-distanced, safe getaway, yet when we considered the limitations, sadness ensued--it is so difficult to give up the good times you're used to, but let's face it, who wants to put themselves in the kind of situation that leads to sickness for themselves or others.
My son had hoped to go back to college, but now the rules are making that almost impossible. We're paying a lot of money for a college experience that will be virtually non-existent. If it were me, I'd take the year off, but he seems focused on getting the hard work of college over with as planned.
One disappointment after another--one limitation after another, and to top it off, we have an ignorant President and self-serving team at the helm that don't lead the country as they face this pandemic, but instead add to the flames of struggle daily with lies, propaganda, sensationalism, and anything that they think will inflate their ratings, pocketbooks, and power. It's disgusting.
So what are we to do?
We have to keep looking for the silver linings like the great bike ride I took yesterday and the good times and good cooking I've shared with my close family members. We have to motivate ourselves to do the jobs we've put off for a long time so that when this passes, we won't have to spend time doing those jobs then, and we have to make time to stay informed and advocate for public safety and the common good especially since there are a number of unethical people in our country milking this situation for their own selfish gain.
So I'll keep coaching myself forward during this time in any way that I can. Onward.
