Via numerous conversations, I think we finally have a plan for a socially distanced annual family gathering. Bringing multiple perspectives, schedules, and plans together wasn't easy, but we're there, and what does that include?
- Safe food share and prep
- Mostly outdoor gatherings
- Rules about safe share of common places
- Masks ready to wear when needed
- Outdoor hikes, swims, bike rides, and picnics
- Keep it simple
Yes, there's loss involved. Some are not coming due to the pandemic. We won't have as much wonderful shared food or play games and tell stories inside. And, there won't be hugs, games that include contact, dinners out, or the ease that typically accompanies an event like this.
Nonetheless we'll congregate and adventure. We have a few more of these events planned for the summer days--all include the same protocols listed above. Again, not ideal, but better than nothing. Onward.
