Our family is gathering to continue a more than 50-year tradition that includes hiking and outdoor adventure. But this year we'll do it with pandemic limitations including social distancing, careful food preparation and share, and most gatherings outdoors.
As recommended by scientists, we're coming to agreement about gathering rules before we get there. I simply don't believe the sickness is worth taking risks--we should do what we need to do to stay healthy.
Specifically how will we do that?
I've looked up food preparation efforts. I'm leaning towards preparing individual lasagnas for people--you can make those in small pans. Also, there should be one or two designated servers so that lots of people are not near any food except their own.
Everyone is bringing their own lawn chairs so we can sit outside apart.
For outdoor adventures, the key is to keep distance from one another.
We also reduced the numbers of people that typically attend this event to keep it safer.
It will be nice to keep the tradition going--let's hope it all goes safely.
