I am creating a family history walking/driving tour. I used multiple records that I found via research that listed the addresses of family members over time. Then I placed those addresses in Google Maps and looked up the houses and locations where family members have lived since the mid 1800's. I placed the images, addresses, and a few related notes naming the people who lived there and details about their lives in a chart. The next step is to map out the locations and create a map and recommended family history route.
As I studied the houses and locations where people lived, I found myself imaginging where they played, how they met their spouses, and what it might be like to live in those places and work nearby. This walk back in time is a great way to learn history and gain new and broader perspectives of your family story.
