My initial reaction to Summer 2020 is that I hope Summer 2021 won't be the same. I hope we'll be on the upswing rather than caught in the web of this pandemic.Yet in the meantime, I'll continue to recalibrate to try to make sense of the most unusual and challenging summer of my life. What will I do?
Essentially it will be more of the same:
Essentially it will be more of the same:
- reading, writing, reflecting
- gardening
- family picnics, hikes, bike rides, swimming, and other outdoor adventures
- focus on healthy living
- supporting friends, family members, and other causes/events as I'm able
- staying mostly close to home
- staying away from unnecessary threats and challenges
The silver lining during this time is the ability to shore up our capacity with regard to knowledge, intimacy, and health. The greatest challenge is putting aside the traditions and pleasures we cannot in engage in at this time due to the pandemic threat. It is certainly a time to better and deepen the way we live, a time to change some of the rat race patterns we may have become accustom to in order to live with more meaning, better relationships, good advocacy, and greater health.
