Trump and his cronies are students of base instincts.
They play on individual's base instincts to take advantage of those individuals.
How do they do this?
Ingrained prejudice, ignorance, and fear
Trump knows that a lot of people don't make the time to read for all kinds of reasons. Many everyday people are working so hard to earn a living and stay alive, that they are too tired and downtrodden to pick up a newspaper, research, or study the reality of situations. So when these people return home after their oppressive days, they seek easy answers, pleasures, and entertainment. Trump provides those easy answers and he entertains them with his preposterous statements and antics. He plays these people.
Many people in the United States are also poorly educated. This is true for a number of reasons including lack of support for quality education and an anti-intellectual mindset promoted by people like Trump who desire an uneducated, servant class to literally do the dirty work that supports their privilege. People like Trump and his cronies don't support quality education--most lawmakers who voted for new tax laws that elevated wealth for the wealthiest Americans are from states that have the lowest rated education systems and the greatest poverty--these Trumpian leaders clearly support a have's and have-not's society--they desire a servant class to maintain and elevate their wealth.
Trump plays upon people's oldtime, ingrained, heinous prejudices and fears. He elevates prejudice against Blacks and other marginalized groups by both subtedly and overtly speaking and acting for his White supremacist base. Clearly, his decision to not attend John Lewis funeral procession in Washington, D.C. was a clear message to his White Supremacist base that he supports a Whites first agenda--an agenda that puts wealthy Whites, particular wealthy white men, ahead of everyone else when it comes to wealth and privilege in society. Trump via his acts and words, continually plays upon people's ingrained prejudice and hate by supporting the disgusting myths, untruths, and hate that prejudice exemplifies. For some, Trump is the tough guy--the bully who will be tough and protect their current lifestyle, rights, and privilege. What these people don't get is that while the Trump team plays the tough guy, they are actually working against the good living of most Americans--while Trump theater tricks these people, he pollutes their air, water, and soil, takes away their health care, diminishes the social services that they rely on, unfunds the education of their children, and incites hate and vioence that makes their lives unsafe.
Educate yourself
Don't be fooled by Trump theater. Don't let him play on your ingrained prejudice, fear, and inability or reluctance to read the fine print. Instead, educate yourself. The truth is that when the least amongst us is able to live a good life, everyone's life gets better. There is room for everyone to live well--we can do that.
Don't be a fool like some that I know. I know one woman whose children benefit greatly from public policy and laws that protect and support individuals. This same woman, whether she realizes it or not, lives in a community that depends on national laws that protect that community from pollution and provides the community with the social services and enviromental supports for healthy living. That woman will retire and depend on social security which Trump works against. Due to Trump's roll backs of environmental, educational, health care, and social service supports, that woman and her children's lives will be shorter and less healthy and happy than they could be. Yet this woman, due to her ingrained prejudice, fear, and lack of education, and oppressive work situation, stands strong for Trump. She is a fool, and doesn't even realize it. This is a sad reality replicated in society by too many people--people that don't understand what's possible for their lives and the lives of those they love. These people are easily tricked by Trump, and in my opinion, this is evidence of Trump abuse.
