Trump: Ignorance on stage

As an educator, my job is to work against ignorance in myself and others. My job is to continually educate myself and others in order to elevate lives. We know that well-educated populations are healthier, more peaceful, and live longer for the most part, and this is good.

As I watched the news this morning, I became somewhat depressed as I watched President Trump work to manipulate people. He is ignorance on stage--rather than consult science and work for positive solutions that elevate life, he works against knowledge and spreads ignorance in order to manipulate the populace for his own fame and gain. This is very depressing. Similarly depressing was to watch Kanye West and Elon Musk use their wealth and influence to work agains the election of Joe Biden. West and Musk have been given much in the way of talent, wealth, and influence, but they are not political leaders, and in my opinion, should turn their support to good leaders who have spent their lives serving the people. We need leaders who will support affordable, accessible health care, quality education, environmental protections, bridging the wealth gap, and peaceful international relations--to forward good policy takes skill and experience. Our good country can't afford to have another inexperienced showman at the helm--we need experienced individuals who can choose well with good collaboration amongst the best and brightest to forward our country.

Trump is an ignorant fool who only works for his own gain. He has filled important offices with family members and cronies rather than the best and brightest. He uses our hard earned tax dollars for his own fame and gain, and works against equity and human rights for Americans and people the world over. He also continually plays to his heinous and self-serving White supremacist base and he's the show dog for the many hateful, self-serving individuals that financially back his campaign. Trump spells disaster for the lives of most individuals in the United States and abroad, and this self-serving evil was on display this weekend via his words and his seemingly Whites-only parties with no social distancing. It was disgusting.

So what is an individual like me to do in the midst of this oppression, ignorance, and greed? I will continue to write against Trump and those ignorant, dangerous, self-serving people that support him. I will look for ways to contribute to good politicians and people who want to contribute to, build, and lead a strong country for all, and I will continue to educate myself so that I can be a good, well-informed contributor too.

I never thought I'd live in an America that allows such a hateful man to be President. I never thought I'd live in an America that puts ignorance ahead of intelligence and good knowledge. I never thought I'd live in an America where people bury their heads in the sand and ignore what the experts say about environmental destruction and pandemic warnings.

It's true I lived in America that did not act enough to give everyone equal rights and opportunity. We clearly have to do more. Black Lives Matter and the related protests are waking us all up to that reality. We have so much work to do, and I can't wait for the day when our hard earned tax dollars support a President who will work with us and not against us. Trump steals our hard earned tax dollars to do his own hateful, self-serving work, and in my opinion, that's a crime.
