I'm not a grandmother yet, but I suspect that I will be a grandmother someday, and I want to have a place that welcomes my grandchildren in special ways.
I've thought a lot about where this place may be, and lately I've been thinking that grandmother's house might be the house I live in now. The COVID-19 quarantining has made me appreciate my house a lot. Although it's not the beachside or moutainside cottage I imagined, there is lot that's right about my home--a lot that might make it the perfect grandmother's house.
Conservation land
My house backs up to woods and a National Wild and Scenic River with historic significance. My children often canoe down that river. This creates a beautiful and adventurous backdrop.
History
This house holds a lot of history--all of my children grew up here. I've lived here for almost half of my life.
Light
The house has good light--I love natural light so this is good.
Privacy
We have neighbors, but we have space too. I like that.
Cul-de-sac
The house is located on a cul-de-sac which provides lots of space for children to play.
Walking distance to a library
The library is only about one mile away.
Conservation lands
There's lots of conservation lands nearby for walks and exploration.
Convenience
Shopping, hospitals, and other needed places are nearby.
The house doesn't have everything. If we stay here, we'll probably have to invest in some air conditioning since it gets very hot. We'll have to update the deck and perhaps add an additional bedroom too.
Time will tell whether we stay here or go, but for now, staying here is a possible option. Onward.
