The simple life

I reworked the budget to fit retirement days. I recognized once again that our life is a simple life. I'm not complaining since I value a simple life--the kind of life with positive time, relationships, and activity.

As I thought about this, I recognized that I want to relay to my children the value of spending money on items that have value rather than wasting money on lots of unnecessary items and events. This is important. Similarly important is the value of saving money--putting aside a good portion of your pay each week really makes a positive difference in the long run.

I thought more about what makes a simple life a good life--what are the ingredients?

I came up with a list that won't surprise anyone. The list includes healthy food, positive activity, friends and family members, a welcoming home, intellectual pursuits, and service to others.

I'm renewing this focus with a focus on the welcoming home. There's a lot of small tasks to complete to update my home and make it more welcoming. Onward.
