2021 Garden Plan |
Gardening is hard work, and to be frank, I prefer reading, writing, and adventure to the actual outdoor labor of gardening. Yet, I do enjoy the results of gardening--I love looking at beautiful flowers and eating garden-fresh vegetables. Thus the 2021 garden plans.
As an educator, I always kept an active plan for the classroom environment and activities. I spent lots of time designing and redesigning the classroom environment to make it as up-to-date, welcoming, warm, and positive as possible. I really enjoyed that design process and found it to be successful for students as well. Hence, I'm using the same approach with my garden design which includes analyzing the efforts throughout the endeavor and applying what I learned to next year's efforts beginning with the design and timeline.
So, if you look at the top of this article, you'll see the simple plan for next year's garden, a garden that includes our favorite annuals and vegetables. I also plan to have container gardens of herbs and cherry tomatoes on the deck. The timeline includes the following:
October
Start the small hydroponic indoor herb garden
Late October/Early November
Till the soil of this year's garden
January
Purchase seeds
February
Start seedlings indoor
March
Build the fence
April
Till the soil
April/May
Plant
