I am fascinated by the brain. As an educator, I sought to learn what I could about the brain in order to make students' learning experiences, coaching, and environment brain friendly. The more we learn about the brain, the better we can support children's successful life-long learning.
Aa a retired educator, I've become more interested in brain health. Recently I learned of a couple of past colleagues in their seventies who have dementia. That's young to meet with such a devastating situation. These are individuals known for their good health habits and positive energy. Yet, they suffer this disease. That news led me to read this article about brain health. As I read, I also realized that school communities have to work for holistic health of students and employees. Too often caregiving environments don't promote top-notch healthy schedules, environments, and supports--this is needed if we want to nurture our children in the best ways possible.
Brain heath is as important as brain knowledge and brain-friendly learning and teaching. I look forward to learning more about this.
