Good Living Journey

I've been reading a lot about good living. I've been thinking about how to live well for myself and others. Like most good propositions, there are limitless ways to work for good living. So where do you start?

Acknowledge positive lifeways

All of us have positive routines, people, and places in our lives. It's good to take a few minutes to acknowledge what makes up the good in your life, and then think about how to continue to sustain that positivity. Yesterday, I had a lunch with a few wonderful people--these are good people that I enjoy having in my life. I want to find ways to keep these relationships strong.

Understand your life challenges

Few to none of us live without any challenge, and to recognize our challenges is the first step to working against them. I recommend prioritizing one or two challenges to work against to start, then reworking your routines to focus on activity that helps you overcome those challenges. For example, I noticed that I face one of my challenges if I'm tired. Simply getting a good night's sleep and doing most of my chores when I have my best energy, leaves me able to meet that challenge more. I also noted that eliminating a few small habits helps me to meet those challenges too. So, if you rework your routine, you can set yourself up to better meet your challenges.

Keep track

Find a way to chart your life events in ways that allow you to easily analyze what's working and what's not working. For example, I noted that there was a connection between a challenge and a minor habit. I probably would not have noticed that if I had not tracked my daily events. It doesn't take long to keep a small log of daily activities to assess.

Reflection, meditation, prayer

Whatever way that you reflect, meditate or pray, make time for that positive activity. This time to simplly review the day and focus on your greater goals and sense of being leads to greater strength, focus, ease, and positivity in living.

Intentional, mindful living supports good living, and good living brings happiness and satisfaction.
