Know your limitations

We all have some limitations, and to know those limitations is to live a better life.

For example, I had an offer to get involved in an activity at a difficult time. I opted not to get involved since past experience has shown me that when I get involved in similar activities at bad times in the day, there is a negative trickle down effect that takes me away from current, meaningful and valuable goals and pursuits. While it is good to be open minded and flexible, it's also important to stick to the commitments we've made to achieve the goals we've set forth. Of course, as with all things in life, there's a balance.

Choosing right times for good events, and following some simple rules of good living can help you achieve in ways that make life richer, fuller, and more meaningful.

How do you know when it's best to stick with that positivie schedule, and when it's okay to veer from the schedule you've set.

What limitations do you want to set for yourself and your schedule? What limitations will help you meet the goals you've set and the person you want to be?

I've found that one way to make this choice for yourself is to highlight the daily events that truly add meaning and value to your life. Take those events seriously.

Also identify the kinds of deviations that take you down paths you don't want to go--what kinds of events trigger the worst of you?

Make time to set vision and know where you are going.

Make sure that your plans are loose-tight, leaving some room for serendipity and surprise. You can't control all things, and you have to realize that this, in general, is a good thing as change is what makes our lives more interesting and what also prompts good growth.

To navigate life's path well, we do have to know our limitations and work with those limitations in ways that matter. Onward.
