Learning Adventures: Herbs and Spices

Like many, I enjoy being in the midst of a learning adventure. I love to research, plan, apply, and analyze. At the start of the pandemic, I embarked on the remote teaching/learning adventure. I was satisfied with the great work my colleagues and I did to complete the school year with students. Together everyone learned a lot and accomplished some significant learning and project work. That was good. I also embarked on a gardening and cooking adventure which resulted in tasty international dishes and a fairly successful garden--one I hope to better next year. Now it's time for a new learning adventure, and that will connect to all things herbs and spices.

As I picked the leaves off my deck container basil plants this morning, I thought about how nice it is to simply go outside to pick the food you'll prepare and eat. Our summer eating has been so much better thanks to this nutritious, accessible food source. With cold weather on the horizon, I don't want to give this up, so I've decided to begin a journey of growing herbs indoors for ready access throughout the cold weather months.

Where do I start?

I did a bit of research and bought a book to read. I also investigated indoor garden products, and invested in one. I suspected that I wouldn't be alone in this adventure during the pandemic months ahead, so I ordered a product before they sell out or go way up in price.

Once the outdoor growing season dies down, I'll spend some time setting up the indoor system. In the meantime, I'll read the book I ordered.

There's always a bit of excitement and trepidation with beginning any new learning adventure, and new adventures always take you down new roads and introduce you to new people. I'm looking forward to the journey ahead.
